The West Nipissing Police Services Board is welcoming a judicial decision to suspend the transition of policing authority to the OPP until a hearing is held.

The West Nipissing Police Services Board’s chair Barry Bertrand is welcoming the judge’s decision.

“Basically what he decided was the motions are still in place but they can not be enacted until we have our court date in October,” he says.
“Our main concern for this whole court process was to ensure a proper process of information going out to the people of West Nipissing concerning police services. Now we will have 3 months to do that,” Bertrand says.
It does not overturn the municipality’s decision to go with provincial police.
