North Bay finally has someone running for mayor.

Gary Philip Gardiner has filed his nomination papers to seek the city’s top job.

In a release, the owner of a local home design and building company says he will release his platform, called ‘The Game Changer’ in September.

He plans on talking to as many people as possible that want to share their ideas, concerns and hopes for the City of North Bay.

“To reach our true potential we need to invest in the community in creative ways. There are a lot of great ideas out there but it takes vision, dedication to detail and a driving spirit to turn ideas into reality,” he says.

Gardiner says he has presented numerous times to Council in the past.

“I fought the inequalities in the water billing system when water meters were first introduced. I am trying to save Kings’ Landing Wharf. Most importantly, I am trying to ensure that the City of North Bay is run openly and honestly,” he says.

Gardiner is listed as Vice President on the North Bay Taxpayers Association website.

Meantime, a 17th councillor hopeful has filed their nomination papers, too.

Cindy Ciancio, who ran in the 2014 election, is once again seeking a councillor spot.

The deadline to file is next Friday afternoon.

Election day is October 22nd.
