Rain, cloud cover and higher humidity helped keep fire activity ‘quiet’ in several areas yesterday.

That word from the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry which says that includes the River Valley Cluster, Lake Temagami cluster and the area around Parry Sound 33.

Parry Sound 33 has forced evacuations in French River Provincial Park, along with the Key River, French River, Pickeral River and Hartley Bay areas.

Officials say there are 55 active forest fires across the region.

There are 17 fires that are not under control.
