Mattawa Voyageur Days officials say they’re pleased with this year’s event which wrapped up on Sunday.

Co-chair Lucie Desrochers says the weather was great and they added some daytime events like the water show and the lumberjack show and that resulted in more visitors.

“A little over 18,000 for attendance. Last year was lower by about 4,000 and the bigger number means more traffic on the festival grounds,” she says.
As for returning next year she’s hopeful.

“What I’m hearing is don’t be surprised if we’re back. We’re getting a lot of good feedback. It sure sounds like it’s going to happen again,” Desrochers says.

The final decision will be made by the next town council.
