As of Friday morning, there were 47 active forest fires across the Northeast district.

11 of those are not under control.

The two major ones are the Lady Evelyn Cluster and Parry Sound 33.

Officials say they’re making progress on the Lady Evelyn Smoothwater Provincial Park fire.

They say they’re within 100 feet of the middle of the fire.

The ministry has made some travel restriction changes around North Bay 72 in connection with that fire.

Good news on the Parry Sound fire too. It hasn’t grown and remains at over 11,360 hectares in size.

Evacuation orders for the Municipality of Killarney and the Municipality of French River remain in effect.
