The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry says they’ve confirmed 6 new forest fires within the last day in the Northeast District.

One of them is North Bay 122.

The ministry says there are currently 45 forest fires and 9 of them aren’t under control.

The two major ones Lady Evelyn and Parry Sound 33 are not growing.

North Bay 72 is being held and the Parry Sound fire is showing no growth.

But the ministry says residents are seeing smoke drift from Parry Sound 33 due to hot and dry conditions.

There are now 307 firefighters and support staff in Ontario providing personnel and equipment.

They are from the province, around the country, Mexico and the United States.

A restricted fire zone remains in place for North Bay, Powassan, Burks Falls and Mattawa.
