The North Bay Conservation Authority and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry’s Stewardship Youth Rangers have been mapping and identifying invasive plant species.

This is part of a early detection and rapid response network.

5 species were identified including Japanese Knotweed, Himalayan Balsam, Purple Loosestrife, Bush Honeysuckle and Phragmites.

They were found in the Chippewa Creek Eco Path, the Kinsmen Trail and Laurier Woods.

Officials say the information is key in future control efforts and to help educate the public.
