North Bay mayor Al McDonald, three city councillors and the CAO are in Ottawa for the next few days for the Association of Municipalities of Ontario Conference.

McDonald says they’re meeting with Monte McNaughton, Minister of infrastructure, with sustainable funding for infrastructure renewal the focus.

As well, he says they’re meeting with the Northern Development and Mines minister Greg Rickford.

“To reconfirm Northern Ontario as being so important to the province.” he says.

McDonald says it’s an important conference, as it’s the first since the Ford Government was elected, with MPP Vic Fedeli being Finance Minister.

“We’re looking forward to working with him. There’s no question that Sudbury received the bulk of the funding the last 8 years and we want to re-confirm the issues that are important to us and work with our MPP,” he says.

McDonald also says they’ll take part in a session on cannabis regulations and meet with area mayors also.
