Mayoral candidate Sheldon Forgette has waded into the discussion about attending events as mayor — saying it’s about balance.

He says as mayor he would continue to be involved in the community but would also share the load with fellow councillors.

Forgette also says there are larger issues to focus on and says as mayor he would issue a moratorium on methadone clinics within the downtown.

He says people tell him they don’t want to venture downtown because of the clientele the clinics attract.

Meantime, the latest platform announcement from mayoral candidate Gary Gardiner involves your water bill.

He’s proposing a Water Rate Stabilization Fund with 50 percent of any surplus in water and sewer going into the fund to offset year-end revenue shortfalls.

The other half would go to the following year’s budget to reduce water rates.

Gardiner says right now all the money goes into reserves.
