The Peter Minogue Rocks and Hearts Curling tournament will benefit 3 local organizations.

The Canadore Foundation which provides scholarships to dependants of military members, the Military Family Resource Centre which supports military members and their families and the North Bay Regional Health Centre Foundation were named as 3 non profits that will receive funds from the event which will be held in January at the North Bay Granite Curling club.

Tammy Morrison is President and CEO of the North Bay Regional Health Centre Foundation.

She says Peter Minogue always supported fundraising initiatives at the hospital so this is a perfect fit.

“Back in the day for our first CT scanner Peter was at the forefront of that with Lions Club members and it’s fitting to his memory and to the celebration of his life to be involved in this event,” she says.

She says the funds will support the Cancer Care Close to Home Campaign.

Peter’s son Brad says he would have been touched.

“I think he would be honored and he would be excited to see how the tournament would unfold,” Minogue says.
