Nipissing MPP Vic Fedeli is welcoming a move by the province to develop a new natural gas program, to expand access to rural and northern Ontario.
Legislation will be introduced, that if passed, would encourage more private gas distributors to partner with communities to develop projects that expand access to natural gas.

Fedeli says expanding natural gas would make communities more attractive for job creation and new businesses.
The province says the proposed new program would potentially enable natural gas connections for over 70 communities, connecting approximately 33,000 households.
They say it would deliver decades of benefits to potentially dozens of communities at no additional costs to the taxpayers, while keeping existing natural gas costs low.
