The new-look Veterans Field ball field is almost complete.
The city’s Manager of Parks Dave Schroeder tells BayToday the $500,000 renovation project is about 99 per cent complete.
“The infield has been put in, the synthetic turf is in, the clay infield is in and they have the warning track in now, and the sod has been down for about a month,” he says.
The project included upgrades to the drainage and irrigation system too.
Schroeder says they’ll be ready to ‘play ball’ next spring.
“To give the whole facility time, for the turf to take and for everything to settle in, and so in the spring it would be perfect,” he says.
There are still some incidentals, like a permanent cover on the pumping system, to complete.
