The North Bay Police Association wants to know what the municipal election candidates in North Bay think about maintaining a municipal service.

President Aaron Northrup says they’ve sent out a questionnaire to all the candidates and will issue a list of candidates that have their support before election day.

He says they’re doing this because there has been a request for an OPP costing in the past.

He says if the city did go with the OPP there would be an impact to their staff.

“Most if not all civilian employees would lose their jobs. Those are your taxpayers, your friends, your neighbours and your coaches,” he says.

Northrup says they don’t want to see jobs lost. There are 220 employees at North Bay Police.
