A winning Wednesday for both Nipissing Lakers soccer teams.

The Nipissing women won 4-nil over UOIT last night on their home turf and advance to the quarterfinals Sunday.

The Lakers offence came from three different players.

Andrea Young scored the opening and game-winning goal, Abby Wroe found the back of the net twice while Tori Bellar rounded out the Lakers scoring.

Goalkeeper Jess Moran turned aside all six shots she faced to record the shutout win.

Nipissing will play against either Queen’s or Ottawa in the next round.

On the men’s side, the Lakers also advanced after a 1-nil win over Queen’s in Kingston last night.

Ryan Roy scored the lone Nipissing goal and Andrew Johnstone picked up the clean sheet.

They’ll take on either Carleton or Ryerson in the quarterfinals on Sunday.
