A microchip clinic is being held at the North Bay and District Humane Society tomorrow (Sat).

Officials say microchipping offers the fastest and most affordable way to track lost pets.

They also say the procedure is quick and painless, similar to vaccination.

Microchips are $25 or $40 with a new licence.

“We recommend getting dogs and cats fitted with a microchip so that, in the event a pet is lost, we can easily connect with the owners and minimize the time the animal is away from its family,” says Liam Cullin, the Society’s Executive Director.

Tomorrow’s ‘Barkfest” starts at 10:30 am and runs until 1 pm.

The event also includes a nailclipping service, adoptions information, refreshments and the inaugural Halloween Pet Costume contest.
