Entrepreneurs and job creators in Nipissing-Timiskaming and Muskoka-Parry Sound are benefiting from a FedNor funding announcement.

MP Anthony Rota announced $800,000 for phase four of IION’s Step Forward Entrepreneurs Program.

Qualifying businesses can received up to $10,000 to enhance and expand operations, commercialize new products, conduct market research and capitalize on export opportunities.

Rota also announced $450,000 goes to IION’s ‘Triple-P’ initiative (Productivity, Prototype, Process improvements) to help more small and medium sized enterprises enhance productivity.

Once fully implemented it’s expected to assist over 80 entrepreneurs grow their business and create or maintain up to 180 middle-class jobs in the region.

“Technology and innovation are vital to the ongoing success of businesses, municipalities and Indigenous communities throughout Nipissing-Timiskaming and across Northern Ontario,” said Rota. “Today’s announcement supports two key programs led by IION that will ensure small and medium-sized enterprises have continued access to the tools and resources they need to develop, grow and thrive in the modern economy.”
