For the first time this season the North Bay Battalion have won back to back games.

The latest a 4-1 victory over the Barrie Colts on Thursday night at Memorial Gardens.

Acting Head Coach Adam Dennis says it’s always tough playing against a division rival, but he says they stuck to the game plan.

“We knew coming in that they were a really skilled team so one of the things we really preached before the game was managing the puck. I thought in the first we were a little bit loose, but in the second and third I thought we really settled down in that regard,” he says.

Captain Justin Brazeau (pictured) had a pair of goals and an assist, and continues to lead the OHL in scoring with 28 points.

Brandon Coe and David Maier chipped in with singles.

It was three power play goals that paved the way for the Battalion.

Barrie initially opened the scoring as Matej Pekar scored a shorthanded goal at the 7:12 mark of the first. But shortly after Justin Brazeau tied the game, and at the 15:36 mark of the first he scored his team leading 14th of the season.

Brandon Coe added his second goal in as many games for added insurance.

Dennis says this is what they expect from their 2017 first round draft pick.

“He’s an important guy for us. He’s a guy with high expectations and he puts high expectations on himself. It’s nice to see him get rewarded and get going here and we’re going to need that to continue going forward,” he says.

David Maier’s third goal of the season was the Troops 4th on the night.

Christian Purboo made 28 saves in the win.

North Bay, now 6-7-0 on the year, is in Erie to play the Otters on Saturday.
