The North Bay Regional Health Centre said thanks on Monday to the late Reg Laroche.

His family and fellow Lions Club members were on hand for the naming of the CT suites at the facility as the Reg Laroche and Lions Club of Region 17 CT suites.

Laroche was integral to the the fundraising for the first CT scan in the mid 90’s. His daughter Angela Hollands couldn’t be prouder of her father who died in 2002.

“He didn’t get a chance to see this beautiful hospital built. He knew we needed the hospital and having a cat scan is very important,” she says.

There are 2 cat scan machines now.

Norah McKerrow is the widow of the late Terry McKerrow who came up with the idea of raising funds for a CT scanner back in the 1990’s.

She says he was a very humble person but he would be overjoyed about how far the scanner project has come.

“People come in from Mattawa and Sturgeon Falls and all over to use the cat scan. It’s excellent to have the two and there was a great need just to have one,” she says.
