Some provincial honours for two local officials with North Bay Gymtrix.

At the recent Gymnastics Ontario AGM and awards ceremony, Janet Jones (pictured below with Nicki Chretien) was awarded the Club Builder Award which recognizes extraordinary volunteerism at the club level.

This award is intended for a highly involved volunteer, one who has repeatedly gone above and beyond, either in length of time, extraordinary effort, etc.

Officials say Gymtrix is celebrating 20 years and Jones has been involved with the club virtually from the start.

Meantime, co-owner Bill Rhoads (pictured above with Nicki Chretien) was awarded the Jay Goold Memorial Award.

The award and is presented to an individual who has contributed many years in the gymnastic community at the Provincial level and has demonstrated administrative leadership.

In a release, officials say Rhoads is Gymnastics Ontario’s Master Coach Developer who works closely with G.O. Education Managers tackling the administrative duties associated with never ending
N.C.C.P. (National Coaching Certification Program) transitions.

He is also a former Chairperson of the Men’s Technical Committee of Gymnastics Ontario and was a member of the Gymnastics Ontario Standards and Ethics Committee for many years.

Rhodes has also been a mentor for thousands of coaches during his tenure.
