Union Gas has provided a pair of $2,000 grants.

The first is to North Bay Fire & Emergency Services and their carbon monoxide awareness initiative.

Deputy Chief Mike Bechard says they will be working with Union Gas and the Hawkins Gignac Foundation to identify those in need of assistance through a maintenance program.

The other cheque is for the North Bay-Mattawa Conservation Authority for their environmental outreach and education initiatives.

Those include the Chippewa Creek EcoPath, the EcoPath Festival, Adopt-the-Creek Program and school-based curriculum for creek studies and watershed awareness.
