The North Bay-Mattawa Conservation Authority says rising water levels have prompted the closure of the Laurier Woods Conservation Area.

In a release, the authority says it’s likely beavers are the cause as a culvert has been blocked on the ONR line near Laurier Avenue.

Officials say it’s unsafe for people walking the boardwalks and pathways.

The area will remain closed for the weekend and won’t re-open until the culvert has been cleared and the water level return to a safe level.
