A third straight loss for the North Bay Battalion as they come up on the wrong end of a 7-4 final against the Ottawa 67’s on Sunday at Memorial Gardens.

The Troops erased a 3-goal deficit after the first period, but Ottawa jumped back in front less than a minute after North Bay tied the game in the second period.

The eventual game winner came when Ottawa scored just over a minute into third.

Acting Head Coach Adam Dennis says those are the ones they really have to prevent.

He says “you start a period and you let in an early one, we could’ve used a save here and there but quite frankly that’s hockey. It’s a game of back and forth and they made the most of their chances and we didn’t.”

The 67’s have not lost in regulation in their last 19 games.

Dennis says the Battalion felt they could compete with the top team in the East.

He says “it’s a team I thought we had chance to get some points on coming in. Whenever you can go in to the third period, within a goal against a team like that, you’re within striking distance. We gave ourselves a chance and unfortunately we didn’t have the third period that we needed.”

Justin Brazeau had a goal and two assists for his seventh game of three points or more this season.

Adam McMaster (pictured) chipped in with two goals for North Bay.

The Troops are back in action Thursday at home to Saginaw.

Only one game for the Powassan Voodoos on the weekend.

They lost 2-1 to the Soo Eagles on Saturday night.

The Voodoos are back in action Friday at home to Timmins.

In OUA women’s hockey, Nipissing won both of their games on the weekend, 2-1 over Queen’s and 5-0 over UOIT.

The Nipissing men had a weekend split with a 5-3 win over RMC and a 7-2 loss to Queen’s.

Both Nipissing basketball teams lost to Guelph and Algoma this weekend while in OUA volleyball, both Nipissing teams split their weekend games.

Both the men’s and women’s Lakers teams defeated RMC on Saturday and lost to Queen’s yesterday.
