Two youths are facing charges after a verbal confrontation with three other young people, who were in the city for a sporting event, became heated Friday night.

North Bay Police were dispatched to a location on McKeown Avenue.

They say a knife was allegedly brandished and threats were made.

A knife, five methamphetamine pills and a small amount of cannabis were seized.

Charges for one youth include:

  • One count of assault with a weapon;
  • One count of Possession of a Controlled Substance; and
  • One count of Possession of a Prohibited Weapon

Police say the young person was also charged with one count of person under 19 possess cannabis in contravention to the Cannabis Act.

A second young person was arrested and later released from custody on charges of:

  • One count of uttering threats.

In accordance with the Youth Criminal Justice Act, the North Bay Police Service will not be releasing the names of the accused or any other information that may lead to their identification.
