The price of natural gas could be going up in the new year.

Union Gas is applying for an annual increase of $53 for residential customers and $2,239 for businesses in the northeast.

Its’ being blamed on forecasted increases in the price of natural gas supplies.

Despite the hike, Union Gas says bills will still be lower than they were a year ago, by $13 for residents and $382 for businesses.

If approved by the Ontario Energy Board, the price increase will go into effect January 1st, 2019.
