If the Community Services Committee chair has her way there could be big changes to Summer In The Park next year.

Johanne Brousseau says they could include a smaller budget, a new name and a completely different look.

“If you have it on 1 weekend and it rains all weekend you’re doomed. If you had 3 smaller events on 3 seperate weekends you may not attract as many people but  I want everyone to come to the table and give us ideas,” she says.

Brousseau says one possibility is a $40,000 budget but others are looking at a higher amount.

A report on the future of the event was sent to committee.

Brousseau says she’s looking at January as an opportunity for the public to come up with some new names for Summer In The Park.

Meantime, the $244,000 deficit from this year’s event will be transferred to the Summer Festivals Reserve Account and any surpluses will be used to reduce that number.
