Representatives of the Cassellholme board were in Toronto this week meeting with Ministry of Health and Long Term Care officials on the development of the facility.

Board chair Chris Mayne says the government is in support of the project but they’re relatively new to the file.

“It’s a new government and they’re trying to understand. We’re asking for 8 behavioral support beds and 16 more on top of that. It’s a slow process and many long term care homes are looking to be licensed and developed,” Mayne says.

Mayne says they’ll have another meeting in a month or so.

He says Finance Minister and Nipissing MPP Vic Fedeli is in favour of the initiative and he’s always asking for updates.

He says this government is in support of the original 240 bed proposal.
