Some of Ontario’s smallest municipalities, including a few in our area, are getting support from the province to develop and improve their asset management plans.

All 444 municipalities in Ontario need to prepare asset management plans for their infrastructure, like bridges, roads and water treatment plants.

To that end the province has announced expert, in-person assistance for smaller municipalities.

Phase one involves 58 communities, including Burk’s Falls, Nipissing and Strong Townships.

Professionals will offer tailored advice on municipal asset management plans and data collection processes.

“The initiative is a good example of how our government is working with small and rural municipalities to make it easier for them to deliver effective services,” said Steve Clark, Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing. “Development of asset management plans will help small municipalities build more competitive communities and improve the lives of the people in Ontario.”
