The city says Memorial Gardens will be re-opening at 7 am Saturday.

Engineer John Severino says some dry wall cracking was noticed during regular maintenance on Thursday.

The staff contacted a structural engineer who determined these were no structural cracks below the underside of the roof structure over the upper level suites.

Severino says other areas of the arena were reviewed as well and no evidence of structural distress was found.

The city says the gardens will be closed as crews remove snow and ice from the roof on Friday.

The Battalion says the game against Barrie which was postponed on Thursday will now be played Tuesday at 7 pm.

Meantime, the city says the West Ferris Arena is open once again and They’re accepting ice rentals.

This week, a new chiller was installed and the new refrigeration plant is operating.

Meantime, crews have wrapped up work on the watermain break on Stanley Street.

Parks, Recreation and Leisure Services say that also means the Lee Park Sliding Hill is open once again for use.
