YMCA North Bay wants to send kids to camp

The YMCA’s Strong Kids campaign is raising funds to send kids to camp in July and August.

Nicole Beattie is the Vice President of Philanthropy, Marketing and Communications for the YMCA of Northeastern Ontario.

She says for $250 you can send a child to Camp Tillicum or camp at the facility on Chippewa.

“This year we want to send 80 kids to camp in Northeastern Ontario. In North Bay, we want to fill one bus and to do that we would to have to raise $10,000 and that’s our goal,” she says.

Beattie says there will be activities for the kids at the camps but there’s a more important benefit to the growth of these children.

“They will be able to make new friends, feel supported by the community and included in all the great activities that we have at camp. It gives kids an opportunity and to unplug and try something new,” she says.

Beattie says close to $10,000 was raised in this “Fill The Bus” initiative in North Bay last year.
