North Bay’s Home and Lifestyle Show is back this weekend at the West Ferris Arena and Community Centre.

Over 100 vendors will be there, including home and decor, health and wellness, activities and leisure, automotive, community groups and much more.

Show dates are 4-8 pm Friday, 10 am to 5 pm on Saturday and 11 am to 4 pm on Sunday.

Admission is $2 and a non-perishable food donation for the food bank.

 

It’s billed as a city-wide FREE yard sale.

Goods Exchange Day goes Saturday from 8 am to 6 pm in North Bay, where residents are encouraged to put unwanted items to the curb, giving them away to anyone who wants it.

The city says usable items can include furniture, clothing, tools, toys, sporting goods, books and more.

Leftovers must be brought back inside by 6 pm.

 

The 2nd annual Great Northern Antiques to Oddities Spring Show goes Saturday and Sunday at the Grande Event Centre.

There’s over 30 booths with local and some out of town vendors, too.

Admission is $5 for both days. Children under 12 are free.

The event goes from 10 am to 6 pm on Saturday and 10 am to 4 pm on Sunday.

 

Sunday is YMCA Healthy Kids Day with several activities that afternoon.

There’s family dodgeball from 1-2 pm, followed by a family swim from 2-3 pm.  From 2-4 pm there’s free drop-in gymnastics and gym activities, too.

There’s no cost, but donations to the YMCA Strong Kids Campaign are appreciated.

 

Sunday is also a big day for Modern College of Hairstyling and Esthetics and KAO Canada.

They’re holding their 7th Annual Hair Competition and Show that day at the Best Western.

The event will showcase local students and Salon Licensed Stylists, with world renowned judges putting on demonstrations too.

There’s a variety of competitions:
At 8:00am – 9:00am – Junior College Students- Evening Upstyling Competition.
At 9:30am – 10:30am – Senior College Students- Cut & Style Competition
At 11:00am – 12:00pm – Open to all levels – Barbering Competition
At 12:30pm – 1:30pm – Senior College Students – Avante Guard Upstyling Competition
At 2:00pm – 3:00pm – Licensed Stylist – Cut & Style Competition
At 5:00pm – Cocktail Reception with Event to follow

Up to $5,500 in prices are up for grabs.

Headline Artists include:

Rodica Hristu – North American Artistic Director, Global Master, Colour Zoom Master 206-2017. Rodica has been the key colorist in many launches such as Goldwell Mexico, Elumen Canada and Goldwell Styling for Canada and a solid presence in most GLOBAL COLOR ZOOM shows around the world.

Tammie Axworthy – North American Artistic team member and KMS Trainer. She is a salon owner in Brantford Ontario, and is the creator of our Progressive-Upstyling Trends program

Edwin Johnston – As the KMS Artistic Director, Edwin travels the globe teaching and inspiring other hairstylists into the world of KMS. He is also a 14 time Contessa Winner and 2 time NAHA winner

Robert Brown – became a licensed stylist at 17 and was so fascinated by the people in the industry that he knew he just had to be a part of it! His performing background landed him a spot in a world-famous ice show where he was not only a professional show skater, but also the company stylist! Since those days, he has styled hair, wigs, and extensions for multiple stages from the ballet to TV, and his tips and techniques have been published in just about every major industry magazine. Robert is the proud owner hairobért in Memphis and has been on board with Goldwell since the 1980s. Robert loves to share his extensive knowledge of the brand with stylists everywhere. His love of education has taken him to salons and stages everywhere as well as all four Goldwell North American Academies. From cutting and coloring to finishing, Robert makes learning new dynamics in hair fun and easy. He makes it his mission to help fellow stylists “master the toolbox” and expand their repertoires behind the chair.
