The transition from a municipal police service to OPP policing in West Nipissing is just over a month way.
CAO Jay Barbeau updated council at Tuesday’s meeting.
“By noon on June 6th the transition will take place. There will be some communication prior to, to inform the public on what numbers to call and so forth,” he says.
Behind the scenes work has been well underway with uniformed personnel waiting to hear if they’re being brought on to the provincial force.
A detachment commander is also expected to be selected early next month.
Physical work on the temporary detachment site continues.
