Environment Canada has issued a freezing rain warning for the North Bay area.

The agency says freezing rain is expected this afternoon, before it tapers off to patchy drizzle or freezing drizzle tonight.

Ice pellets are also in the forecast today.

With the impending freezing rain, school transportation officials says school buses are cancelled across Nipissing and East Parry Sound — both north and south of Hwy 522.

Schools remain open.

Meantime, with unstable conditions over the next couple of days the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry has extended the flood warning in the North Bay District until Monday.
