Lake Nipissing has reached the level where there is the potential for damage to shoreline properties, and water levels continues to rise.

That from the Conservation Authority who has put the the Parks Creek Flood Control Structure into full operation.

Officials say since April 18, more than 105 mm of precipitation has fallen, and more than 100 mm of snow-water-equivalence has melted in the North Bay-Mattawa area.

The potential for damage to the Callander Bay and Lake Nipissing shoreline is up.

The Lake Nipissing level has reached 196.22 metres and officials expect that level to keep rising over the next 10-15 days.

The level has gone up by nearly 5 cm between Wednesday and Thursday.

On Thursday, the Parks Creek Flood Control Structure was put into full operation.

It is located in the Eva Wardlaw Conservation Area at the mouth of the Parks Creek on Lake Nipissing near Lakeshore Drive and Marshall Avenue.

The conservation area is closed until further notice.

The flood warning has been extended until Tuesday.
