The flood warning has been extended by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry until next Friday.

The North Bay-Mattawa Conservation Authority says snowmelt, rain and runoff in the northern watersheds continue to add water to the upper Ottawa River and in Lake Nipissing.

Water levels continue to rise in those areas, including Mattawa.

Other areas like the Wasi River, Chippewa Creek and La Vase River are above seasonal norms, but are trending downwards.

Rising water levels in Lake Nipissing may pose a threat to properties along the lake and Callander Bay shoreline, along with the lower La Vase River, if there are strong winds or waves.

The City of North Bay says Public Works Canada is slowing opening dams along the French River to alleviate some of the pressure.

The situation is being reassessed daily.

Sandbags are available at Public Works on Franklin Street, Sunset Park and Champlain Park.

The city also says one auxiliary pump at the Wastewater Treatment Plant has been activated to help discharge fully treated wastewater into Lake Nipissing. Two other pumps are on standby if needed.

In Mattawa, Main Street was reopened Saturday night after being closed while crews reinforced and repaired the sand berm along the Mattawan Street shoreline.

An evacuation centre is set up at the Mike Rodden Arena and is open 24 hours a day.

Several streets remain closed.

Updates are being provided on the Mattawa Facebook page.

Nipissing First Nation says 150 homes and cottages in Jocko Point have been affected by severe flooding.

No evacuations have been ordered.

In West Nipissing, officials continue to monitor conditions and are providing sandbags to those in need.

Road closures are listed at westnipissing.ca
