Officials all around the area continue to monitor water levels and flood conditions.

The Conservation Authority reports water levels in Lake Nipissing rose again yesterday and are expected to continue to rise over the next several days.

They say the Mattawa River level stabilized yesterday with flooding the result of backflow from the Ottawa River.

 

In Mattawa, all school buses are cancelled again today because of flooding.

Board officials confirm Mattawa schools are open, but because conditions can change rapidly, parents may need to pick up their children early.

Meantime, town officials yesterday reminded residents that have evacuated NOT to re-enter their homes until officials say it’s safe.

 

Nipissing First Nation reports French River dams increased their total discharge by another 20 cms on the weekend.

150 homes and cottages on Jocko Point are affected by the flooding.

 

West Nipissing reported no change in road conditions yesterday, but water levels are up.

And here in North Bay, sandbag stations are back open this morning (8 am) at Public Works on Franklin Street, Champlain Park and Sunset Park.

Mayor Al McDonald yesterday reported another 1,200 were given out or delivered by staff.
