As the flood warning continues for the area, city crews continue to help local residents with sand bags.

There are sand bag stations up at Public Works on Franklin Street, at Sunset Park and Champlain Park.

Manager of the Water and Sewer Department, Scott Taggart tells BayToday they’re filling sand bags and helping property owners fill up their vehicles.

“Anyone who has a small car, no car, or they are elderly we’re actually delivering it to their property for them,” he says.

Taggart says the latest information is Lake Nipissing will peak in about 10 days.

“Everyday we’re monitoring the situation, and we’ll continue to have resources as long as we feel they’re needed and wanted,” he says.

BayToday reports about 8,000 sand bags have been distributed by the city, so far.
