One of the largest Gymnastics Ontario sanctioned invitation events is on the go this weekend in North Bay.
Gymtrix is hosting the 21st annual Sunshine Classic at Nipissing’s Surtees Athletic Centre Thursday through Sunday.
800 gymnasts, coaches and judges will be here for the event.
Officials say there are 29 clubs from across the province taking part, with the youngest participants being 5 years old (Showcase) while the oldest gymnast is 59 years (Masters).
The levels of athletes participating include Showcase, Interclub, Provincial and Masters.
Competition sessions take place back to back throughout the weekend and are approximately two hours in length.
Larry Tougas, Sport Tourism Coordinator Tourism North Bay says “We are very happy to see the Sunshine Classic return for its 21st year. Gymtrix has worked extremely hard over the years to make this one of North Bay’s biggest sporting events. The ongoing economic impact of the event, and others like it are very important to our community.”
