Powerboat racing is coming to North Bay’s waterfront.

The Ontario Powerboat Association announced details Friday of the North Bay Powerboat races on July 13th and 14th.

Brent Valois is one of the founders of the Ontario Powerboat Association.

He says after hearing about Lake Nipissing as a possible location for a competition they decided to check it out and they love what they see.

“We looked at 2 or 3 locations in the North Bay area but we couldn’t get past the beauty of this location. It’s a spectacular spectator location too,” Valois says.

Valois says there will be high speed action.

“Our stock classes will see boats go between 65-75 miles an hour and the outlaw class boats will go in excess of 100 miles an hour,” he says.

Valois expects over 40 competitors to take part. There’s no admission fee to check out the action.
