The flood warning for Lake Nipissing has been extended until next Monday.

That’s the bad news.

But the good news is the flood warning for a number of areas including the Ottawa River at Mattawa has been terminated and replaced by a watershed conditions statement.

Lake Nipissing’s level has dropped 2 cm but strong winds are still causing increases in some areas.

Particularly vulnerable is the east side of Lake Nipissing including North Bay and Callander.

Officials say only minor amounts of precipitation is expected over the next few days in the Mattawa area.

Meantime, the City of North Bay has re-established staffing at its two satellite sandbag stations from 8 am to 8 pm at Sunset Park at the end of Sunset Boulevard and Champlain Park at the end of Premier Road.

They’re also available at Public Works on Franklin Street.

And the Lake Nipissing Condo Trail that runs from Marathon Beach to Timmins Street has been closed due to High Water and the Wave Action.
