The Canadian Ecology Centre in Samuel de Champlain Provincial Park is marking it’s 20th anniversary today (Friday).

General Manager Bill Steer says a ceremony will recognize FedNor and the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund.

Both were financial supporters from the beginning.

He says there’s more recognition too.

Frank Dottori, the former CEO at Tembec was the catalyst who put everything together. He will be honoured. We’re proud to name one of our buildings after him,” he says.

Steer says over the years they’ve spread the message of the importance of supporting the environment.

“We’ve literally brought thousands and thousand of students here. There are so many therapeutic values with regards to nature and awareness of what you can do to reduce your consumptive lifestyle,” Steer says.
