A couple of Trillium-level horse shows are taking place at Eastwood Equestrian in Chisholm this summer.

Up to 80 riders from as far away as Timmins and Sault Ste Marie will compete for accumulated points.

The first event goes this weekend, starting Friday, with the second show the weekend of July 5-7th.

Admission is free and spectators are welcome.

There are seven Trillium Hunter Jumper Association shows throughout the spring and summer with riders competing to qualify for the championship at Palgrave in September.

Last season, under the direction of longtime coach and co-owner, Shelley Ellis, Eastwood qualified 16 riders for championships.

“For us to host a Trillium level show and offering the same standard of competition that is available in the southern zones is such a benefit to our riders. We train year round to get ready for the competitive season, the long winter is a distinct disadvantage here in the north, but our riders are very dedicated to their sport and consistently improving” says Ellis. “Eight of our riders placed at Championships last year and we have hopes of an even stronger season this year.”
