Officials at 22 Wing CFB North Bay officially opened a Mission Training Centre at the base today.
The facility trains students within 51 Aerospace Control & Warning (Operational Training) Squadron to the same standard as other international partners.
It also offers the capability to train with other NORAD sectors and in the cyber domain, too.
22 Wing Commander Col Mark Roberts tells BayToday they’re modernizing the way they train and think.
“You can’t face 21st Century threats with 20th Century technology. This is about innovation, about transforming the way we think and train to meet those new and current threats,” he says.
Officials say the MTC optimizes instruction with the flexibility to teach, monitor and drive simulations, inject problems and debrief the students in private.

(military personnel in area this weekend)

Don’t be surprised if you see military personnel with weapons, aircraft and vehicles in the North Bay and Corbeil area this weekend.
National Defence says troops from Garrison Petawawa are training in the area Saturday through Tuesday.
Residents can expect to hear noises associated with explosives and personal weapons.
Officials say all efforts will be made to ensure that disruption to the community will be at a minimum.
