The North Bay-Mattawa Conservation Authority says water levels on Lake Nipissing have lowered enough for the Flood Warning to be downgraded to a Flood Watch.

The lower water levels also mean the pumps and logs have been removed from the Parks Creek Backflood Control Structure (photo from conservation authority) and the waterway.

As well, the Eva Wardlaw Conservation area is open once again.

The area in and around Lake Nipissing had been in a flood warning situation since April 25th.

And the city has taken action as well.

The pumps were brought in several weeks ago to assist in the discharge of fully treated wastewater due to operational challenges caused by the high water levels.

The city says municipal boat launches at Sunset and Champlain Parks are now open as is the trail that extends from Marathon Beach to Gorman Street.
