A local business owner has asked for and received A $54,000 grant to help set up shop in the Airport Industrial Park.

The money is being available under the Airport Community Improvement plan and includes rebates in municipal fees and taxes.

City Councillor Dave Mendicino says this means a 30,000 square-foot manufacturing facility owned by MG Valenti Holdings Inc. will be built on Voodoo Crescent.

He says three business will be set up there: Essential Exteriors, Northland Glass & Metal Ltd. and Designed Roofing Inc.

“They have a desire to expand their manufacturing and increase their sales but they can’t do it at their existing premises. This is a pefect fit as far as them purchasing land in the Airport Industrial Park,” he says.

Mendicino says this is one way council can help grow the city.

“Council is not just committed to growing the city by bringing new jobs in. It’s a good incentive for that. We use that as a marketing tool. But it’s also used for existing businesses to help them expand,” he says.

Construction of the new facility is scheduled to start this summer with completion early next year.
