Near North Board has recalled 141 teachers so far

The Near North District School Board says the staff recall process continues, and says 45 elementary teachers and 96 secondary teachers have been recalled to permanent positions.

Officials say they’re still awaiting information from the province, which may result in additional recalls.

Thirty elementary and 36 secondary teachers remain on notice of possible lay off.

The board says those who can’t be offered permanent work will be eligible to apply for Long Term Occasional contracts and have access to short-term supply work.

Information involving other board positions, including support staff, will be brought forward at a later date.
