Chippewa grad Preston Robinson, who worked to motive others through his leadership above and beyond academic excellence, has been named the inaugural recipient of the Keera Daniel Memorial Scholarship.

The North Bay And Area Community Foundation says the scholarship was created to celebrate Keera and remind others to follow her inspiring example.

In a release they say in her 17 years, Keera endeavored to connect and motivate those around her and always maintained her quick wit, smile and care for others throughout her fight with cancer.

The foundation says Keera was brave, forward-thinking, and took on life’s challenges without complaint.

The $7,500 scholarship will help Robinson achieve his dream of becoming a lawyer.

The fund, held by the North Bay and Area Community Foundation, was established earlier this year with generous funding from the Hughes Family Foundation.

Those interested in making a donation to assist in providing this same opportunity to future students can visit nbacf.ca or email kate.merritt@nbacf.ca
