The North Bay Police Association have contracted a psychotherapist for officers to talk to about stresses of the job.

Executive member Ivan Ryman says this is in addition to what’s currently offered.

“We have internal members who will address traumatic incidents with our other members. It’s been noticed that some officers need professional assistance rapidly,” he says.

He says officers can be impacted by one incident or there could be a cumulative effect too.

Ryman says officers have traditionally internalized the impact of PTSD but times have changed.
