Work starts today on a couple of major city arterial roads, including the major reconstruction project on Cassells Street.

A detour is in place from Chippewa to King Street for phase one of the project, which should wrap up in December.

The project includes work on sewers, watermain, road base, curbs, sidewalks, asphalt paving and other ancillary work.

Meantime, expect traffic delays on Lakeshore Drive this week, especially during the morning and evening rush.

That’s because road rehabilitation work is taking place from Judge Ave to Gertrude St today through Friday, weather permitting.

The work includes milling and paving and will result in the roadway being reduced to two lanes of traffic.

The City is asking drivers to use alternate routes if possible to avoid delays.
