The Granite Club will be taken over by wrestling this weekend.

The event is called Rumble in the North.

One of the competitors will be Blake Gauthier.

He told BayToday  it’s his debut event.

“From there I hope I can turn this into regular appearances,” Gauthier says.

He’s always wanted to wrestle but has been held back by health issues including heart attacks and he torn up one of his knees.

The former North Bay Bulldogs player says one of the motivations to get in the ring is behind his weight loss. He says he weighed 430 pounds less than a year ago.

“In February when I had the second heart attack I’d already managed to lose 70 lbs. by that point. From February to now I’m down another 70 plus lbs.,” he says.

Northland Wrestling promoter Dann Pigozzo reached out to Gauthier after that heart attack and he gets to fulfill his dream this weekend.

The wrestling event begins at 5 pm on Saturday.
