The District of Nipissing Social Services Administration Board had a delegation at this week’s AMO conference in Ottawa.

In a release, chair Mark King says they had talks with provincial officials about mental health and addictions and the housing crisis.

As well, they received a commitment from the Associate Minister of Mental Health and Addictions Michael Tibollo to come to the area next month and meet with local stakeholders to get a read of local concerns.

Local officials also met with various ministry representatives to advocate for community supports in social housing and the increased need of emergency shelter spaces.

The delegation also lobbied for the continuation of programs that are helping like The Gateway Hub.
